In the article ‘Building inspectors miss extended competency deadline’, written by Joshua Stein and published on 8th July, we learn how the building inspection industry missed the deadline to ensure there are enough qualified inspectors to meet high demand. The Building Safety Regulator (BSR) had already extended the deadline for inspectors to prove their competency by three months due to concerns from the Local Authority Building Control (LABC). Despite this, the BSR had to temporarily alter competency rules for class two and three inspectors, allowing them to work unsupervised while awaiting certification results.
